Explore the comprehensive list of James Bond luxury watches. From Sean Rolex Submariner to Craig's Omega Ocean.
Expecting to see a few well-known brands, like Omega, Seiko, and Rolex, appear frequently, and this is no surprise. In reality, Omega has been an official franchise partner since 1995, distributing limited edition Bond watches on demand. We actually discussed one only a few weeks ago.
Meanwhile, you may be curious what type of watch Daniel Craig will be sporting in the latest Bond film, "No Time to Die." We can't say for sure, but we're guessing it'll be an Omega Seamaster of some kind—call it a hunch.
1. Dr. No – Rolex Submariner (116610LN)
Film: Dr. No
Year of Release: 1962
Actor: Sean Connery
The relationship between James Bond and Rolex extends back to Ian Fleming's first novel, "Casino Royale," where the legendary spy wore the equivalently popular brand. Fleming received direct inspiration from his own personal interests since he was frequently spotted wearing a Rolex Explorer Reference 1016 on his wrist.
According to mythology, actor Sean Connery, who played Bond for the very first time, was also a Rolex lover. According to reports, Connery's Rolex Submariner in the first James bond movie came straight from his own collections. It was fastened to a leather strap and marks the stylish beginning of what would become a famous relationship.
2. Goldfinger – Rolex Submariner
Film: Goldfinger
Year of Release: 1964
Actor: Sean Connery
If something ain't broke, don't fix it, as the quote goes. The swanky spy wasn't broke during the third 007 films, and nor was his favorite Rolex Submariner. When Bond rolls up his tuxedo sleeves to expose the watch in all its brilliance, a legendary alliance is forever sealed. The Submariner had been attached to a slender cloth strap rather than leather. Meanwhile, iconic Bond girl Pussy Galore (yep, that's her real name—Google it with caution) wears a Rolex GMT Master, a classic aviation timepiece.
3. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – Rolex Chronograph
Film: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
Year of Release: 1969
Actor: George Lazenby
Other Watches: Rolex Submariner & Rolex Submariner Ref
Australia's own George Lazenby wore three distinct Rolex Submariners during his one and only aspect as Agent 007. The first one was the Reference 126613LN on such an Oyster steel bracelet. Bond next installs a Reference 126619LN with a dislodged crown on top of a photocopier during a break-in scene. He's shown sporting later in the flick. Let's hope the actor was willing to keep at least one, though not all, of those classic models.
4. Casino Royale – Omega Seamaster
Film: Casino Royale
Year of Release: 2006
Actor: Daniel Craig
By 2006, there had been a new Guardian in town, as well as a new Bond actor to play him. That character has been the uber-serious Daniel Craig, who started things off by transporting us back to the roots of the narrative. The occasion was marked by not one, but two "Casino Royale" timepieces. First was a Seamaster Planet Ocean, which James wore in the film's opening scene. He wears an automated Seamaster with co-axial escapement for the rest of the movie.
5. Goldeneye – Omega Seamaster Professional
Film: Goldeneye
Year of Release: 1995
Actor: Pierce Brosnan
The James Bond series was resurrected in the mid-1990s, with Irish actor Pierce Brosnan taking on the starring role. Brosnan was a genuinely sound and dependable choice due to his sharp looks and sneaky demeanor. 1995's "Goldeneye" marked more than one debut, as it also launched Omega as the series's official watch partner. Enter the "Goldeneye" watch, which is a quartz Omega Seamaster Professional diving watch. Predictably, the Q Branch customized it with a laser in the bezels and a built-in explosive.
